Job Aid for Pasado's Safe Haven Volunteers
Job Aid for Pasado's Safe Haven Volunteers
Content: This job aid is part of a series created to support volunteers completing animal enrichment tasks at Pasado’s Safe Haven. It uses concise instructions, clear sequencing, and task-specific visuals to help volunteers quickly identify needed materials and complete each activity. The series incorporates Pasado’s Safe Haven branding, including its logo and brand colors.
Challenge: Volunteers completing rotating animal enrichment tasks needed an easy way to recall the materials and steps for activities they may not perform regularly. A quick-reference resource was needed to support accurate, independent task completion.
Solution: I created a series of visual job aids that break each enrichment activity into simple, sequential steps. Each guide pairs concise instructions with photographs and visual cues so volunteers can quickly gather materials and complete the task. I also created an editable template so Pasado’s staff could develop additional job aids using the same structure and visual style.
Result: The finished job aids provide volunteers with an accessible reference they can use during their shifts, reducing reliance on memory and supporting consistent, independent completion of enrichment tasks.
Design Decisions & Rationale:
I made several design decisions to keep the job aids practical, easy to scan, and useful during active volunteer shifts:
Organized each activity in the order volunteers perform the task
Paired concise instructions with photographs to reinforce each action
Highlighted materials and action steps so information can be located quickly
Used a consistent visual structure across the series to make each guide familiar and easy to follow
Incorporated Pasado’s Safe Haven branding, including its logo and brand colors, to create materials consistent with the organization’s visual identity
Created an editable template to support future updates and additional job aids while maintaining a consistent format
